We've got our cast. We've been rehearsing. The kids get it right every time. Still trying to find reliable crew for giving us relief, as we're trying to shoot 24/3.

Wednesday night Zach (DP) and I read to each other out loud from my Canon XL1s user manual. It was SO interesting. Of course, we have used the camera before in other productions, but we thought it might be a good idea to know everything about it. But then there's the issue of retention...

Thursday's casting went great. We went to some schools to cast for Will and Damian. We ended up foregoing the drama group and got the kids that were in theater just for the credit. I hope I'm not making a mistake, but it was beautiful. I've always liked the idea of having non-actors. I think it's going well with the shooting style.

We also did some test shots at the shelter. This is going to be great.

So yesterday it occurred to me that maybe I should be a little freaked out. Like maybe others have some sort of secret to how to shoot and edit a feature length film in 72 hours. I can't even imagine the pace of such a project. I'm anxious to get my cast together. I think once we start rehearsing I will feel a lot better. James and I are going to go to some high schools tomorrow to look for our leads. That's another challenge all together. But it also could be really awesome. There's going to be nothing mediocre about this project. I have a feeling it's going to rock or suck. I mean, can you imagine, showing up for the shoot and your lead is sitting in his underwear eating Fruity Pebbles and watching Sponge Bob in his living room? It's going to haunt me daily. I'm going to have understudies.

Yeah, so I don't know what just happened to my entry...

Anyway, I was saying. I've gotten over 100 responses to my casting call. The first round of auditions are Thursday. I decided it would be a good time to send out the email about the project and the extensive rehearsals and time constraints. A lot of people have written back saying count me out. But that's alright. This project isn't for the faint hearted.

I stayed at the coffee house with Justin until after midnight last night going over the script. If this film makes, and movie goers nod their heads, I'll have him to thank.
